The Promira SPI Active Level 3 Application (TP600710) is the fastest SPI licence for the Total Phase Promira Serial Platform: SPI master to 80 MHz, slave to 20 MHz, with single, dual and quad I/O. It supports up to eight slave selects and sixteen configurable GPIO, with asynchronous slave transmit and receive. It is built for high-throughput quad SPI flash programming and dense multi-device fixtures, and installs on top of SPI Active Levels 1 and 2.
Quad SPI Master to 80 MHz
Level 3 makes the Promira a quad SPI host adapter: it doubles the Level 2 master clock and adds quad I/O, so four data lines move data on every clock. For quad-capable NOR flash that is the difference between programming at the device's real throughput and running it in single-bit mode. It also lets you validate a quad SPI design at its rated clock before the target MCU's own driver is ready.
Eight Slave Selects and Sixteen GPIO
Up to eight slave selects, configurable and shared with up to sixteen GPIO, let one Promira address every SPI device on a dense board and drive the control lines around them. A single adapter and script can run a full board-level SPI test, rather than one tool per device.
SPI Slave to 20 MHz
Slave mode runs at up to 20 MHz with asynchronous transmit and receive, matching Level 2. Use it to emulate a peripheral for host firmware testing while the master side handles programming and register access on the same unit.
Software and API
Control Center Serial gives interactive control of the bus and GPIO. Flash Center programs and verifies I2C and SPI memory devices (Windows and Linux). The free Promira Software API covers C, C#, Python, .NET, VB.NET and VB6, with a LabVIEW driver for test stations, and the Promira Aardvark Wrapper API runs code written for the Aardvark API while you port it. Promira software runs on Windows 10 and 11, Linux and macOS 13 or later.

Limitations
- This is a software licence only. It runs on the Promira Serial Platform (£1,040 ex VAT), which is sold separately and must be in place before the licence can be installed.
- Level 3 requires SPI Active Level 1 and Level 2 on the same Promira. From a bare platform the three SPI licences total £1,175 ex VAT, plus the platform.
- Slave mode tops out at 20 MHz, the same as Level 2. The 80 MHz figure applies to master mode.

Buy Level 3 when you need a quad SPI host adapter, a master clock above 40 MHz, or more than three slave selects. Below that, Level 2 covers the job for less.
Typical Applications
Quad-I/O programming of large SPI NOR flash at 80 MHz in production. Board-level test of up to eight SPI devices from one adapter. Validating a quad SPI flash layout at its rated clock during hardware bring-up.
Level 3 suits production engineers with high-volume quad SPI programming and hardware validation teams working on dense SPI designs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this include the Promira hardware?
No. It is an application licence for a Promira Serial Platform you already own or order with it. The Promira Serial Platform is £1,040 ex VAT.
Do I need SPI Active Levels 1 and 2 as well?
Yes. Total Phase lists both as prerequisites for Level 3. Level 1 is £120 and Level 2 is £245 ex VAT.
What is the fastest SPI the Promira can master?
80 MHz with SPI Active Level 3, in single, dual or quad I/O.
Can one Promira run several applications?
Yes. Total Phase states that a Promira Serial Platform can hold more than one application licence, so the I2C, SPI and analysis applications can all sit on the same unit. Each licence is added as a licence file through the Promira's admin interface, alongside firmware updates.
