Overview
The SEGGER J-Link PLUS Compact (SKU 8.19.28) is a USB-powered JTAG/SWD debug probe in a small, mountable enclosure with USB-C. It offers the same functionality as the J-Link PLUS Classic, providing up to 15 MHz target interface clocking and SWO sampling up to 30 MHz via the standard 20-pin 0.1″ header. The J-Link Software and Documentation Pack includes GDB Server integration for major IDEs, the Ozone debugger and J-Flash for production-grade flash programming. A built-in Virtual COM (VCOM) bridge exposes a target UART to the host for logging and CLI access.
Part of the J-Link Family
If you need higher interface speeds, see J-Link ULTRA+. For Ethernet and test farms, see J-Link PRO. For entry-level use, consider J-Link BASE Compact. Adapters are available for compact headers, e.g. the 9-Pin Cortex-M Adapter.
Why Consider This Model?
The PLUS Compact balances performance, broad device/IDE support and a space-saving form factor that’s easy to secure inside fixtures or service kits. It is a practical, long-lived choice for multi-vendor ARM projects where consistent tooling, SWO visibility and dependable flash programming matter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Have a Question?
-
Is there galvanic isolation?
Not in PLUS Compact by default. You can add an isolator accessory if required (see Debugger Accessories).
-
What CPUs are supported?
ARM Cortex-M/R/A and many legacy ARM cores; also Renesas RX and Microchip PIC32 families via J-Link device support.
-
Can I use it for production flashing?
Yes - J-Flash (included) supports production-grade programming. For high-volume, SEGGER Flasher units may be preferable; ask Debug Store for guidance.
-
How fast is the interface clock?
Up to 15 MHz JTAG/SWD; SWO sampling up to 30 MHz for trace/printf-style logging.
-
What target connector does it use?
Standard 20-pin 0.1″. For compact headers use adapters such as the 9-pin Cortex-M.
-
Does it support my IDE?
J-Link works with major IDEs (GDB-based and vendor IDEs). If you require Ethernet for remote farms, consider the J-Link Pro..
-
Is PLUS Compact functionally different from PLUS Classic?
No—functionality is the same; Compact adds a smaller, mountable enclosure and USB-C. For higher speeds consider the J-LinkPlus Ultra..
