The Xeltek SuperPro M is a USB 2.0 universal programmer with 48 universal pin drivers, supporting over 20,000 devices from 158 manufacturers, including EPROM, parallel and serial EEPROM, NOR flash, SPLD and CPLD parts and microcontrollers. It programs devices with Vcc as low as 1.2V, verifies at Vcc plus or minus 5% and 10%, and ships with a DIP48 adapter. It suits development benches and small production runs that program loose chips from a PC.
48 Universal Pin Drivers and 20,000+ Supported Devices
All 48 pins of the SuperPro M are universal pin drivers, so one programmer covers memory, programmable logic and MCU families with package adapters rather than device-specific programmers. Xeltek lists support for EPROM, paged EPROM, parallel and serial EEPROM, FPGA configuration PROM, NOR flash, BPROM, NVRAM, SPLD, CPLD, EPLD, Firmware Hub, microcontrollers and standard logic. Programming uses manufacturer-approved algorithms, and the programmer has over-current and over-voltage protection.
DIP devices up to 48 pins go straight into the supplied DIP48 adapter; the device list shows no adapter code against them. Other packages, from PLCC and SOIC to TSOP, QFP and BGA, use Xeltek's device-independent SA-series socket adapters, sold separately. Xeltek lists the SA series for its 48-pin-driver SuperPro programmers: the SuperPro 610P and 611S, and older models including the SuperPro M, 601S, 600P, 501S, 500P, 3000U, 580U and 280U. The SuperPro M device list calls up, for example, the SA001A family for PLCC20 (the device list names the SA001A-B2001 variant), SA008A for PLCC28, SA015A1T for PLCC32, SA244 for PLCC44 and SA404 (listed for the EPCS16 in SOIC16). Check your device entry for the adapter it names before ordering.
Programming Times Measured by Xeltek
Xeltek publishes program plus verify times for the SuperPro M against its older SP3000U.
| Device | Type | SuperPro M (program + verify) | SP3000U (program + verify) |
|---|---|---|---|
| AT28C64B | 64Kb EEPROM | 0.8 + 0.1 = 0.9 s | 1.2 + 0.8 = 2.0 s |
| 24AA128 | 128Kb EEPROM | 2.7 + 1.8 = 4.5 s | 5.0 + 4.0 = 9.0 s |
| AT89C55WD | 20KB flash MCU | 2.5 + 0.4 = 2.9 s | 3.3 + 1.0 = 4.3 s |
| PIC16F876A | MCU | 10.1 + 0.8 = 10.9 s | 22.1 + 6.2 = 28.3 s |
| S25FL064A | 64Mb SPI flash | 43.9 + 14.7 = 58.6 s | 72.8 + 41.4 = 114.2 s |
Production Mode, Projects and Serial Numbers
In Production Mode the SuperPro M starts the chip operation automatically as soon as a device is inserted, so an operator only swaps parts. A project combines device selection, file loading, configuration and batch settings into one step, and can be password protected with production volume control. The Batch command runs program, verify and security operations in any order. Standard or customer-specific serial number generators write a unique value to each part, and a log file records results for quality tracking.

Limitations
- PC hosted only: there is no stand-alone mode. The SuperPro 6000E and SuperPro 6000 run stand-alone with 144-pin drivers.
- Xeltek lists the SuperPro M in its Legacy Programmer Download Center, with the last software release dated 26/02/2014. Do not expect new device support.
- Only the DIP48 adapter is included. Every other package needs a socket adapter.
- In-system programming needs an optional ISP/ICP adapter. For production ISP of soldered parts, the SuperPro IS01 is the dedicated tool.
