Terms of service
These terms apply to the website at www.thedebugstore.com and to everything you buy through it. Clauses 1 to 9 cover buying from us. Clauses 10 to 14 cover using the website. Clauses 15 to 17 apply to both.
This website is operated by Great Western Microsystems Limited, trading as The Debug Store, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 03152326. Registered office and trading address: Berwyn House, Carrog, Corwen, Denbighshire LL21 9AT, United Kingdom. VAT registration number GB 753 1482 36. Email: sales@thedebugstore.com. Telephone: +44 (0)1490 430526.
In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Great Western Microsystems Limited. "You" means the person or organisation placing an order or using the website. A "Consumer" is an individual buying for purposes that are wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession. A "Business Customer" is anyone else, including a company, partnership, sole trader, school, university, research body or public body buying for its work.
1. About These Terms
1.1 By placing an order you agree to these terms. Please read them before you order. You can print or save this page.
1.2 We may update these terms from time to time. The version shown on this website when you place your order is the one that applies to that order.
1.3 Some pages carry extra terms for a particular product or service. Where they conflict with these terms, the extra terms apply to that product or service.
1.4 Nothing in these terms takes away any right the law gives you as a Consumer that cannot be excluded by agreement.
2. Ordering From Us
2.1 You place an order through our online checkout. Before you confirm it you can check the order and correct any mistakes. The checkout shows the goods, the price, VAT where it applies, the delivery charge and the total before you pay.
2.2 When we receive your order we send an email acknowledging it. That email is not acceptance of your order.
2.3 We accept your order, and a contract is made, when we send you an email confirming that the goods have been dispatched. If we take payment before then and later cannot accept your order, we refund the payment in full within 14 days.
2.4 We may decline an order if the goods are not available, if we cannot obtain authorisation for your payment, if there has been an obvious pricing or description error, if the goods cannot lawfully be exported to your address (clause 7), or if you do not meet any eligibility condition in these terms.
2.5 Stock information on the website is a guide. "In Stock" means we normally hold two or more; "Limited Stock" means we normally hold one. Otherwise we show an estimated lead time. Lead times are estimates and depend on our suppliers. If you need goods by a particular date, tell us before you order. If you are a Consumer and we have not delivered within 30 days of your order, or by any later date we agreed with you, you may cancel the order and we will refund you in full.
2.6 For deliveries outside the United Kingdom, the recipient is responsible for any import duty, tax, customs or brokerage charge levied in the destination country. These charges are not included in our prices and we cannot calculate them in advance. Your local customs office can advise.
2.7 Purchase orders. We accept official purchase orders from companies, universities, research bodies and public bodies, in the United Kingdom and overseas, with no minimum order value. Email your purchase order to sales@thedebugstore.com. We reply with a proforma invoice, and the goods are dispatched once payment has cleared, unless your organisation already holds a credit account with us (clause 3.5). A purchase order that does not include carriage is charged carriage as set out in our Shipping policy.
2.8 Quotations. We provide written quotations on request. A quotation is valid for 14 days from its date unless it says otherwise.
3. Prices, VAT and Payment
3.1 Prices are shown in pounds sterling or in the currency you select, converted at the rate shown at checkout. Because most of our customers are VAT-registered businesses, each product page shows the price both excluding and including UK VAT. VAT at the current rate (20%) is added at checkout on orders delivered within the United Kingdom and is shown before you pay. UK VAT is not charged on orders delivered outside the United Kingdom.
3.2 Delivery charges depend on the service, destination and weight. They are shown in the cart and at checkout before you pay, and are explained in our Shipping policy. UK Standard delivery is free on orders of £75 or more excluding VAT and costs £9 plus VAT below that.
3.3 The price you pay is the price shown when you place your order. If we find an obvious pricing error before dispatch we will tell you and you may cancel for a full refund.
3.4 We take payment through Shopify's secure checkout by debit or credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Orders placed by purchase order or quotation are paid by bank transfer against a proforma invoice, or by card. Goods are dispatched when payment has cleared.
3.5 Credit accounts. We offer credit accounts only to regular customers, by agreement in writing. Other customers pay before dispatch, and we recommend paying by card for the fastest dispatch.
3.6 Education discount. Schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions receive a 5% discount on our listed prices. Ask for it when you request a quotation or send your purchase order; it is not applied to orders placed through the online checkout. The discount does not apply to products that are already sold as discounted educational packages.
4. Cancellation and Returns
4.1 Business Customers. This website sells mainly to businesses. If you order as a Business Customer and change your mind, ask us before returning anything. If we agree to the return, the goods must be unused, undamaged and complete in their original packaging, and a restocking charge of 30% of the price is deducted from the refund. Delivery charges are not refunded. Special orders (goods built, configured or sourced specially for you, or not normally held in our range) cannot be returned for a change of mind. This does not affect your rights if goods are faulty, not as described or not fit for a purpose you told us about (clause 6), or any manufacturer's warranty.
4.2 Consumers: your right to cancel. If you are a Consumer, you may cancel your order for any reason within 14 days. The 14 days start the day after you (or someone you nominate, other than the carrier) receive the goods. If your order is delivered in more than one part, the 14 days start the day after you receive the last part. You may also cancel at any time before dispatch.
4.3 How to cancel. Tell us clearly that you want to cancel before the 14 days end. You can email sales@thedebugstore.com, write to the address above, or use the cancellation form in clause 4.9. You do not have to give a reason. We will acknowledge your cancellation by email.
4.4 Returning the goods. Send the goods back to us at the address above within 14 days of telling us you want to cancel. You pay the direct cost of returning them. We recommend a tracked and insured service, because the goods are your responsibility until we receive them. You may examine the goods as you would in a shop. If their value has been reduced because they were handled more than needed to check their nature, characteristics and working (for example, unsealed anti-static packaging on a component, missing accessories, or marks from use), we may deduct that loss of value from your refund, up to the price paid.
4.5 Your refund. We refund the price of the goods and the cost of our cheapest standard delivery to your address. If you chose a faster or insured delivery service, we refund only the standard delivery cost. We pay the refund within 14 days of the day we receive the goods back or, if earlier, the day you give us evidence that you have sent them. We use the same payment method you used, unless you agree otherwise, and we do not charge a fee for the refund.
4.6 Goodwill returns. In addition to your legal rights, Consumers in the United Kingdom may return goods between 15 and 30 days after receipt if they are sealed, unused and undamaged. A restocking charge of 30% of the price is deducted and delivery charges are not refunded. This is a voluntary arrangement and does not apply to faulty goods, which are covered by clause 6.
4.7 When the right to cancel does not apply. The right to cancel in clause 4.2 does not apply to: (a) goods made to your specification or clearly personalised, including items we have had built or configured to your order; (b) sealed computer software, audio or video recordings that you have unsealed after delivery. Separately, if you unseal goods supplied in sealed anti-static or moisture-barrier packaging, we may treat this as handling beyond what is needed to check them (clause 4.4).
4.8 Deliveries outside the United Kingdom. Clauses 4.2 to 4.7 describe the rights of Consumers under United Kingdom law and apply to goods delivered within the United Kingdom. If you are a Consumer living elsewhere, you keep any rights the law of your own country gives you. Please contact us before returning goods from outside the United Kingdom so that we can tell you how to return them and what import paperwork is needed.
4.9 Model cancellation form. You may use this form to cancel, but you do not have to.

5. Delivery and Risk
5.1 We deliver by the service you choose at checkout. Services, charges, dispatch times and cut-off times are set out in our Shipping policy. We do not offer collection in person.
5.2 If you are a Consumer, the goods are our responsibility until they are delivered to you or to someone you have nominated to receive them. If a parcel is lost or damaged in transit we will replace it or refund you, whichever delivery service you chose.
5.3 If you are a Business Customer, risk passes to you when the carrier delivers to the address you gave. Standard delivery is tracked but not insured; if you want transit insurance choose an insured service or ask us to add it at cost. Report shortages or transit damage to us within 3 working days of delivery so that we can claim against the carrier.
5.4 Ownership of the goods passes to you when we have received payment in full.
6. Faulty Goods
6.1 We must supply goods that are of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If you are a Consumer and the goods are faulty, you have the rights given by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. In summary: within 30 days of receipt you may reject the goods for a full refund; after that you may ask for a repair or replacement, and if that fails or cannot be done you may claim a price reduction or a refund. We pay the reasonable cost of returning faulty goods. These rights are in addition to any manufacturer's warranty.
6.2 If you are a Business Customer, tell us about any fault as soon as you find it. We will, at our choice, repair or replace the goods or refund the price, following the manufacturer's warranty process where one applies.
6.3 Warranty. The products we sell carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty period is shown on each product page. Total Phase hardware carries a 2-year warranty from us. Total Phase's own warranty is 12 months on most products; where it is shorter than 2 years, we cover the rest of the 2 years ourselves at no extra cost. To make a warranty claim, contact us first. We handle the claim with the manufacturer for you.
6.4 Nothing in clause 6 or clause 9 excludes or limits any liability that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
7. Export Controls
7.1 Some of the products we sell are dual-use items controlled under the UK Strategic Export Control Lists. We check every order for an address outside the United Kingdom. For the EU and the other countries covered by the UK's open general export licence for dual-use items, we export under that licence and no application is needed. For other destinations we may need to apply for an individual licence from the Export Control Joint Unit, and we will tell you if your order needs one.
7.2 Where a licence is needed we apply for it. Delivery waits until the licence is granted. If the licence is refused we cancel the order and refund the price of the goods.
7.3 For Business Customers, a fee of £250 applies to process an individual licence application on orders under £2,000. The fee is not refunded if the licence is refused. If you are a Consumer we will tell you about any fee before taking payment for it, and you may cancel the order instead.
7.4 We do not supply goods to destinations or persons subject to UK sanctions. At the date of these terms these include Belarus, Iran, Russia and other countries under UK trade sanctions. You agree not to re-export goods bought from us in breach of UK export controls or sanctions, and to give us end-use information when we ask for it.
8. Complaints
8.1 If something goes wrong, email sales@thedebugstore.com or call +44 (0)1490 430526 (08:00 to 17:00 UK time, Monday to Friday). We will acknowledge your complaint and work with you to put things right.
8.2 We are not members of an alternative dispute resolution scheme and are not obliged to use one. If we cannot settle a complaint with a Consumer we will say so in writing and tell you whether we are willing to use a certified dispute resolution provider in that case. You may also take a complaint to the courts (clause 16).
9. Our Responsibility to You
9.1 If you are a Consumer: we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses, because we supply goods to Consumers for private use only. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for breach of your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in relation to the goods.
9.2 If you are a Business Customer: (a) we do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for breach of the terms implied by section 12 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude; (b) subject to (a), we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data, loss of use, or for any indirect or consequential loss; (c) subject to (a) and (b), our total liability to you in connection with an order is limited to the price you paid for that order. The products we sell are development, programming and test tools; you are responsible for deciding whether a product is suitable for your application and for testing it before relying on it.
9.3 All goods we sell are new. Product information on this website comes from manufacturers and is given in good faith. Product specifications can change; the manufacturer's current datasheet takes precedence over our summary. Where a figure matters to your purchase, check it with us before ordering.
10. Using This Website: Licence
10.1 You may view, print and download extracts from this website for your own use, provided that you do not modify them, do not use graphics separately from their accompanying text, and keep our copyright and trade mark notices on all copies.
10.2 Unless stated otherwise, the copyright and other intellectual property rights in all material on this website (including photographs, graphics and text) belong to us or to our licensors, who include the manufacturers whose products we sell. Any other use of material from this website needs our prior written permission.
10.3 No part of this website may be reproduced on another website or stored in any electronic retrieval system without our prior written permission. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
11. Website Availability
11.1 We try to keep this website available at all times but we do not promise that it will be. Access may be suspended without notice for maintenance, repair or reasons outside our control. Clause 11 is about the website only; it does not affect any order already accepted.
12. Questions, Answers and Reviews
12.1 You may post questions, answers and reviews on product pages. By posting, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish, edit, shorten and remove that material on this website and in our product information. You keep ownership of what you write. Personal information you give us is handled under our Privacy policy.
12.2 You must not post material that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, threatening, discriminatory, infringes anyone's rights, or contains malicious code, and you must not misuse the website, for example by attempting unauthorised access. We may remove any material and suspend any account that breaks this clause, and we will co-operate with any lawful request from a court or law enforcement authority to identify someone who has done so.
13. Links
13.1 Links to other websites are provided for convenience. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content.
13.2 You may link to our home page provided that you do not frame our pages, do not alter our logo, and do not suggest any endorsement or relationship with us that does not exist. We may withdraw this permission at any time.
14. Registration
14.1 You must be at least 18 to register or to buy from us. Each registration is for one person; keep your password secure and tell us at once if you think someone else knows it. We may suspend or close an account that is used in breach of these terms.
15. Your Information
15.1 We use the personal information you give us to process your order, to meet our legal obligations (including export control and tax records) and, where you have agreed or where the law allows, to tell you about similar products. Details, including your rights under UK data protection law, are in our Privacy policy. You can stop marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link or emailing us.
16. Governing Law and Courts
16.1 These terms and any contract made under them are governed by the law of England and Wales.
16.2 If you are a Business Customer, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
16.3 If you are a Consumer, you may bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in the courts there, and we will bring any claim against you in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where you live. If you live outside the United Kingdom, nothing in this clause takes away protection given to you by the mandatory law of your own country.
17. General
17.1 You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else without our written consent. We may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation, and will tell you if we do; this will not affect your rights.
17.2 If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
17.3 If we do not insist on a right under these terms at once, we may still do so later.
17.4 No one other than you and us has any right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce these terms.
17.5 These terms, together with your order, our dispatch confirmation and the policies linked from this page, are the whole agreement between us for your purchase. Last updated: 31 October 2026.
