The TC2030-CTX-CTI20 connects a TI debug probe with the 20-pin 0.05″ CTI-20 connector, such as the XDS110, to a 6-pad TC2030 footprint on your PCB, for 2-pin cJTAG or SWD with SWO and reset.
- Debugger end
- 20-pin 0.05″ (1.27 mm) TI CTI-20
- Board end
- TC2030 footprint, 6 pads
- Interface
- cJTAG or SWD + SWO + nRESET
- Not carried
- 4-pin JTAG (TDI, TRST), EMU pins

Pin Table
| TC2030 pad | Signal | CTI-20 pin | Connect on your PCB to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | VTref | 5 | Target Vdd. Sets the debugger's I/O level; no series resistor |
| 2 | TMS / SWDIO | 1 | MCU SWDIO |
| 3 | nRESET | 15 | MCU reset pin, active low |
| 4 | TCK / SWCLK | 11 | MCU SWCLK |
| 5 | GND | 8 | Ground. CTI-20 pin 8 can be used by the probe for cable detect |
| 6 | TDO / SWO | 7 | MCU SWO, for trace output. Optional: leave unconnected if not used |
CTI-20 pins 2 (TRST), 3 (TDI), 4 (TDIS), 9 (RTCK), 13, 14 and 17 to 19 (EMU0 to EMU4) and the other ground pins are not carried. For 2-pin cJTAG, TMS and TCK carry TMSC and TCKC. TI's connector guide (SPRU655I) says pin 4 (TDIS) should be tied to target ground, and some XDS probes report a cable break when it is not; Tag-Connect's table leaves pin 4 unconnected. We have asked Tag-Connect whether the XDS110 needs it and will update this page when they reply.
Pinout confirmed? The TC2030-CTX-CTI20 plugs straight into your debugger's CTI-20 connector.

- Six pads, Ø0.79 mm (0.031″), on a 1.27 mm (0.050″) pitch in two rows of three. Seen from the component side with the single alignment hole on the left, the top row is pads 2, 4, 6 and the bottom row is 1, 3, 5.
- Legged cables need four extra latch holes; the no-legs (NL) footprint needs only the pads and alignment holes. Mechanical drawings (PDF): TC2030 legged footprint, Rev B and TC2030-NL no-legs footprint, Rev B.
- No solder paste on the pads. Keep other tracks at least 0.5 mm (0.020″) from any pad.
- Mark the footprint "do not fit" on your BOM, so nobody tries to buy a part for it.
Debuggers This Cable Fits
Tag-Connect lists the TI XDS110. Other TI probes with the 20-pin CTI-20 connector use the same pin functions, but Tag-Connect only lists the XDS110. For a debugger with the 10-pin 0.05″ Cortex connector, use the TC2030-CTX. Full list in our Tag-Connect cable guide.
Other Versions of This Cable
These cables have the same CTI-20 connector and the same TC2030 head, so the diagram and pin table above apply to both. Tag-Connect makes no SOFT or LEMTA version. Differences are highlighted.

Questions
Does the TC2030-CTX-CTI20 Support 4-Pin JTAG?
No. It carries TMS, TCK, TDO, reset, VTref and ground, which covers 2-pin cJTAG and SWD with SWO. TDI and TRST are not connected.
Is the TC2030 Footprint for the CTI20 Cable the Same as for Arm Cables?
Yes. Pad 1 is VTref, 2 TMS/SWDIO, 3 nRESET, 4 TCK/SWCLK, 5 GND and 6 TDO/SWO on every TC2030-CTX cable.
Which CTI-20 Pin Is VTref?
Pin 5, wired to TC2030 pad 1.
