OSD Click Board
OSD Click Board
The OSD Click Board™ is an add-on display board intended to add a monochrome on-screen display (OSD) generator to the user design. The board employs a combination of a MAX7456 single-channel monochrome OSD generator module, integrated EEPROM memory as well as two RCA sockets. It is preloaded with 256 user-programmable characters or pictographs in NTSC and PAL standards. MAX7456 module is ideally suited for creating on-screen menus or place the company logo in the streaming video. It has a 12x18 pixel character size and can easily display information in up to 16 lines of 30 characters each.
For communication with the target board microcontroller, the OSD Click Board™ makes use of MikroBUS SPI (SDI, SDO, SCK, CS#), RST, LOS, HSYNC and VSYNC lines. The board is designed to operate on a 5V power supply only. OSD Click Board™ is an ideal option for consumer electronics, in-cabin entertainment, industrial applications, security cameras, security switching systems, and many more.
IC/Module: MAX7456 On-Screen Display (OSD) Module
The MAX7456 is a low-cost single-channel monochrome OSD generator offered in a compact design package. Using SPI-compatible serial interface, MAX7456 is delivered with preprogramed character set. It eliminates the need for an external video driver, sync separator, video switch, and EEPROM.
256 User-Programmable Characters or Pictographs
MAX7456 OSD module features 256 user-defined characters or pictographs in integrated EEPROM. It allows user to easily display information such as company logo, custom graphics, time, and date with arbitrary characters and sizes. It is compatible to NTSC and PAL standards.
Composite Video Sockets
OSD Click Board™ comes with two RCA jacks: CN1 and CN2. CN1 is used for composite video OUT and CN2 for PAL or NTSC composite video IN.
