Trycom Technology (Taiwan) makes industrial serial and network interfaces: USB to RS-232/422/485 converters, isolated repeaters, Ethernet serial servers, fibre converters and RS-485 remote I/O modules. Together they let a PC, PLC or SCADA system reach serial field devices over USB, Ethernet or fibre, with galvanic isolation between the host and the field wiring. Most modules share one 151 x 75 x 26 mm housing that mounts on DIN rail or a panel.
A Trycom RS-485 network is a master, a converter and a chain of addressed modules on one twisted pair. The master is a PC or SCADA package running Modbus RTU or the Trycom ASCII protocol. A USB converter such as the TRP-C08S (one RS-232 port and one RS-422/485 port, 3000 V DC isolation on the RS-422/485 side) connects it to the bus. Remote I/O modules such as the TRP-C24, TRP-C26 and TRP-C28 each take their own address and answer the master one at a time.
RS-485 is a two-wire differential bus that supports many devices on one cable, at up to about 1200 m. The standard supports at least 32 unit loads per segment, recommends a daisy-chain layout rather than a star, and calls for a termination resistor at each end of the cable, typically 120 ohms for twisted pair. In Modbus RTU each slave needs a unique address from 1 to 247, the range given in the TRP-C28 manual. The TRP-C07 optically isolated repeater adds isolation and range at a point in the run. Maximum distance varies by module, so check the manual for the one you fit.
A Modbus TCP to RTU gateway lets an Ethernet SCADA system poll serial Modbus devices as if they were on the network. The TRP-C37M converts between Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU/ASCII in both directions (TCP master to serial slave, and serial master to TCP slave). In a typical gateway the TCP unit identifier selects the RTU slave address and the gateway adds or strips the RTU CRC, so the function codes and data pass through unchanged. Check the TRP-C37M manual for its own unit-ID options.

Use a USB converter with an RS-485 port. The TRP-C08S has one RS-232 and one RS-422/485 port with 3000 V DC isolation, and the TRP-C08M gives four ports. Wire D+ and D- as a twisted pair to the bus.
The RS-485 standard supports at least 32 unit loads per segment over up to about 1200 m. Modbus RTU addresses run from 1 to 247. For more devices or a longer run, split the bus with a repeater such as the TRP-C07.
Yes on a long or fast RS-485 bus. Fit one resistor at each end of the cable, typically 120 ohms for twisted pair, and none on the spurs in between.
The RS-485 modules such as the TRP-C26 and TRP-C28 support Trycom ASCII and Modbus RTU. The TRP-C26H and TRP-C28H put the same I/O on Ethernet with Modbus TCP.
The TRP-C37 is an Ethernet serial server. The TRP-C37M is the Modbus version: it converts Modbus TCP to Modbus RTU/ASCII and back, and also offers Direct IP, Virtual COM and Paired modes.
Yes. Trycom lists DIN rail or panel mounting for the 151 x 75 x 26 mm units, with the T-SNAP DIN rail bracket available. The USB converters list DIN rail as an option, so check your model.
