Dediprog Technology builds SPI flash programmers, SPI flash emulators and universal gang programmers for firmware engineers. The SF series programs SPI NOR and SPI NAND flash either in-system on the target board or in a socket, the EM100Pro emulator replaces the flash chip so firmware and BIOS images can be changed in seconds, and the NuProg range programs UFS, eMMC and other devices on the bench or in production.
In-system programming (ISP) means updating the SPI flash while it stays soldered on the target board. The Dediprog SF600Plus-G2 and Dediprog SF100 connect to the PC over USB and to the board through an ISP cable, test clip or header. With a socket adaptor the same flash can be programmed off-board, and the SF600Plus-G2 can also run stand-alone from its own memory using a start button.
The EM100Pro-G3 SPI NOR flash emulator lets a target system boot from an image held in the emulator's DRAM instead of from a real flash chip. The emulator takes the place of the flash on the board, the target boots from the emulated image, and a new image is loaded from the PC without erasing or reprogramming a device. Dediprog quotes about 10 seconds for a 1 Gb image on the Dediprog EM100Pro-G3, against several minutes for conventional programming.
| Model | Role | Devices | Distinguishing features |
|---|---|---|---|
| SF100 | ISP programmer | SPI NOR flash | USB, 2x7 ISP header, 1 CS pin, signal conflict protection, can supply power to the board |
| SF600Plus-G2 | ISP and stand-alone programmer | SPI NOR and SPI NAND | High-speed USB 2.0 (Type-C), single/dual/quad/octal I/O, 1.2 V devices, dual CS, multi-programmer operation |
| EM100Pro-G3 | Flash emulator and analyzer | SPI NOR, 512 Kbit to 4 Gbit | 1.8 V or 3.3 V, up to 50 MHz, SPI protocol analyzer, SPI HyperTerminal |
| NuProg-E2 | Engineering universal programmer | UFS, eMMC, MCU, SPI NOR/NAND, parallel NOR/NAND, EEPROM, CPLD, FPGA | USB 3.0, DediWare software, projects and sockets compatible with NuProgPlus |
| NuProgPlus-U8 | Gang programmer | Same device classes as NuProg-E2 | Up to 8 sockets, copy mode and program mode, LCD and keypad for stand-alone use |
| NuProgPlus-U16 | Gang programmer and duplicator | Same device classes as NuProg-E2 | Up to 8 sockets, expandable to 16 for SPI flash, UFS and eMMC; stand-alone operation |
Earlier emulators are also listed: the EM100Pro-G2 and the EM100Pro.
The SF programmers share one software package, with three ways of working. Engineering mode is an interactive GUI with automatic chip detection, Production mode runs several programmers at once from stored project files, and the command-line tool DpCmd suits scripted and automated test stations.
In-system programming (ISP) updates the SPI flash while it is soldered on the board, using an ISP cable or test clip. Socket programming uses a socket adaptor, so the chip is programmed off the board. The SF600Plus-G2 supports both, and the SF100 is aimed at on-board programming.
Choose the SF600Plus-G2 if you need SPI NAND, octal I/O, 1.2 V devices or stand-alone operation. The SF100 suits SPI NOR in-system programming. For UFS, eMMC, MCUs and multi-site production use, look at the NuProg-E2, NuProgPlus-U8 and NuProgPlus-U16.
The EM100Pro-G3 emulates the SPI flash from DRAM, so the target boots from the emulated image and a new image loads without erasing or programming a chip. It also includes an SPI protocol analyzer that logs the commands and data on the SPI bus.
The EM100Pro-G3 emulates SPI NOR flash from 512 Kbit to 4 Gbit at 1.8 V or 3.3 V, with single, dual and quad I/O at up to 50 MHz. Check the product page and your flash datasheet for adaptor requirements.
The SF series uses DediProg software with Engineering mode, Production mode and the DpCmd command-line tool, the EM100Pro-G3 has its own EM100Pro software, and the NuProg range uses DediWare. Check the product page for the current version and licensing for your model.
Usually yes. ISP programming needs an ISP cable, header or test clip to match your board and package, and socket programming needs an adaptor for the chip package. Ask our engineers if you are unsure which cable or clip your board needs.
