DAC Click Board
DAC Click Board
Overview
The MikroE DAC Click Board™ is an easy and compact accessory board featuring MCP4921, a 12-bit single-channel digital-to-analogue converter. Designed to ensure high accuracy and low noise performance, the MCP4921 module is a suitable choice for industrial applications where calibration or compensation of signals, such as temperature, pressure, and humidity. It operates an optional 2x buffered output. DAC Click Board™ communicates with the target board microcontroller using the SPI interface. The board contains two analogue output screw terminals: Vout and GND. These data are converted to the appropriate voltage level in the range between GND and REFERENCE (VCC or 4.096V), which is proportional to the received 12-bit number. The board is designed to operate a 3.3V power supply by default. The user can solder the PWR SEL zero-ohm SMD jumper to the 5V position when using 5V systems.
With these features, DAC Click Board™ is an ideal choice for applications like setpoint or offset trimming, precision selectable voltage reference, motor control feedback loop, digitally-controlled multiplier/divider, calibration of optical communication devices, and many more.
IC/Module: MCP4921 12-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter
The DAC Click Board™ is based on the MCP4921, a single channel 12-bit digital-to-analog converter intended for low-power consumption and high accuracy. Using the SPI protocols for communication, it operates from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply. It includes double-buffered registers and features a resistive string architecture.
SMD Jumpers
The DAC Click Board™ features two SMD jumpers: PWR SEL and REFERENCE. The zero-ohm PWR SEL jumper enables the user to select between a 3.3V and 5V power supply while the other zero-ohm jumper, REFERENCE, allows user to select either VCC or 4.096V as the voltage reference.
