Total Phase Advanced Cable Tester v2
The Total Phase Advanced Cable Tester v2 (ACT v2) provides comprehensive electrical screening of USB, HDMI and DisplayPort cables for production or lab QA. It verifies wiring (opens/shorts), measures DC resistance on power/ground and data lines, and performs signal-integrity checks with eye diagrams up to 12.8 Gbps per channel. Results are presented instantly on the unit and via a web interface, with local storage for over one million test records.
Interchangeable connector modules support a wide range of cables. Choose USB Type-C, USB Standard-A/B/Micro-B, HDMI Type-A and DisplayPort by installing the relevant modules or bundles. For USB-C, the ACT v2 also validates E-Marker data and PD-related fields, helping you catch mis-declared cable capabilities before they cause field issues.
If you plan to screen different cable families, consider adding the ACT v2 module bundles: USB-C Bundle and Video (HDMI/DP) Bundle. For protocol-level debug of devices uncovered by cable tests, see Beagle USB 480 Power Protocol Analyser and Promira Serial Platform.

Frequently Asked Questions
Have a Question?
-
How do I add support for new cable types?
Install the matching connector modules. See theAccessories Catalogue: .
-
How does it help with IR-drop issues?
Milliohm-level DCR measurements on VBUS/GND identify excessive resistance that leads to voltage droop under load.
-
Can I export results for traceability?
Yes. Export CSV/PDF and keep over 1,000,000 local records for audits and yield tracking.
-
Which cables are supported out of the box?
Choose a starter bundle:USB-C BundleVideo Bundle
-
How fast is a typical test?
Continuity/DCR tests are near-instant; signal-integrity sampling is milliseconds per channel with PRBS patterns, enabling rapid end-of-line throughput.
-
Is this a replacement for formal compliance testing?
No. It’s a manufacturing/lab screening tool. Standards bodies (USB-IF, HDMI, VESA) still require design compliance on sample lots; ACT v2 ensures production quality is consistent.
-
Does it validate USB-C E-Markers and PD fields?
Yes. It reads and checks E-Marker data so declared cable capabilities align with actual construction.
-
What failures does the ACT v2 detect?
Opens/shorts, mis-routing, DC resistance issues on power/ground/data, and signal-integrity margin problems via eye diagrams up to 12.8 Gbps per channel.
