Flame Click Board
Flame Click Board
The MikroE Flame Click Board™ is a fire detection solution sensitive only to the infrared radiation from an open flame. This fire detector Click Board™ features a PT334-6B NPN silicon phototransistor covered in black epoxy. Being an infrared sensor, once properly calibrated, it can be used in a range of applications where you need to detect the presence of a high-heat source. Proper calibration can be done using the onboard potentiometer that allows the user to set up the exact detection threshold. When the threshold level is attained, the module sends an interrupt to the target board's MCU through the MikroBUS INT pin. Otherwise, the sensor can also output a continuous analogue signal through the MikroBUS AN pin.
Based on a highly sensitive phototransistor, the Flame Click Board™ has a faster reaction time than smoke or heat sensors and thus makes for a good choice for electric fuse boxes, motor boxes, cameras, etc. It is designed to use either a 3.3V or 5V power supply.
IC/module: PT334-6B silicon phototransistor
The PT334-6B NPN-polarity silicon phototransistor is covered in a dome-shaped black epoxy 5mm lens, which makes it highly sensitive to infrared light. This phototransistor has Maximum Emitter Collector Voltage: 5V; Maximum Collector Current: 20mA; Peak Wavelength 940 nm.
Fast Reaction Time
Being a phototransistor-based flame detector, the Flame Click Board™ is supposed to have a fast response time as compared to smoke or heat sensors in certain conditions (though a narrower sensing angle and shorter range). Due to this, it is seen as a better choice for monitoring spots prone to catch fire, like electric fuse boxes or motor boxes.
Requires Proper Calibration
The Flame Click Board™ boasts of high photo sensitivity but the user needs to properly calibrate the sensor to prevent it from reacting to the surrounding thermal radiation. For this, the user can use the on-board potentiometer that helps to set the exact threshold and trigger the interrupt for the target board microcontroller. After proper calibration, it can be used in a variety of security applications.
