ETH Click Board
ETH Click Board
The ETH Click Board™ from MikroE adds Ethernet functionality to your project. This accessory board is provided with a 28-pin, 10BASE-T stand-alone Ethernet controller, ENC28J60 by Microchip. Compliant with all of the IEEE 802.3 specifications, the ENC28J60 chip uses the industry-standard Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). The board also employs a Medium Access Controller (MAC) and Physical Layer (PHY) that provides additional functionality. The ETH Click Board™ has an 8-Kbyte transmit/receive packet dual-port SRAM with configurable transmit/receive buffer size. The board communicates with the host controller through an interrupt pin and the SPI communication lines with clock rates of up to 20 MHz. The ENC28J60 aboard ETH Click Board™ supports programmable automatic retransmit on collision as well as programmable automatic rejection of erroneous packet. The ETH Click Board™ includes a standard RJ-45 connector and LEDs for transmitting, receive and power. The integrated crystal oscillator ensures stable operation. It is designed to operate with a 3.3V power supply only.
The ETH Click Board™ is highly suitable for applications including VoIP, industrial automation, building automation, home control, security and instrumentation.
IC/Module: ENC28J60 Stand-Alone Ethernet Controller
ENC28J60 is intended to serve as an Ethernet network interface for any controller with SPI interface. This stand-alone Ethernet controller is compliant with all IEEE 802.3 standards and provides an internal DMA module for fast data throughput and hardware assisted checksum calculation, which is used in various network protocols. With a small foot print, the ENC28J60 minimizes complexity, board space and cost. .
Integrated MAC & PHY
The ETH Click Board™ features on-board MAC (Medium Access Controller) & PHY (Physical Layer). The MAC supports unicast, multicast and broadcast packets. It offers programmable receive packet filtering and wake-up host on logical AND or OR. The PHY has a loopback mode with two programmable LED outputs for Link, Tx, Rx, Collision and Full/Half-Duplex status. .
Note: For adding the Ethernet functionality to a 5V system, check out the Serial Ethernet Board. This board is not in mikroBUS form; it connects via a 10-pin single-row or a 2x5-pin header. .
