Micsig MHO3 Series: 12-Bit, 500 MHz Oscilloscopes With a 14-Inch Touchscreen

The Micsig MHO3 Series is a four-channel, 12-bit oscilloscope family in 250 MHz, 350 MHz and 500 MHz models, sampling at up to 3 GSa/s (1.5 GSa/s per channel when both channels of a pair are in use). It suits work where 8-bit vertical resolution runs out: small ripple on a power rail, low-level analogue signals sitting on a large offset, or mixed-signal boards where you need to see detail on several channels at once.

Key Specifications

  • Bandwidth: 250 MHz, 350 MHz or 500 MHz, depending on model
  • Sample rate: up to 3 GSa/s (1.5 GSa/s with both channels of a pair in use)
  • Vertical resolution: 12-bit
  • Noise floor: 80 µVrms or less at full bandwidth (1 mV/div, 1 MΩ input)
  • Memory depth: up to 360 Mpts (180 Mpts with both channels of a pair in use), with segmented acquisition and playback
  • Display: 14-inch touchscreen, 1920 × 1200
  • Hardware digital filter for selective frequency analysis
  • Mic-OPI probe interface, which recognises Micsig probes automatically and handles probe compensation and calibration

Why 12-Bit Matters

A 12-bit ADC divides the vertical range into 4,096 levels against 256 for an 8-bit scope, so each step is 16 times finer. With a low noise floor, that resolution is usable rather than buried in noise, which is what you need when you are measuring millivolt ripple or small analogue changes without zooming the vertical scale in and out.

Deep Memory and Segmented Capture

Up to 360 Mpts of memory keeps the sample rate high over long time bases, so you can capture a full power-up sequence or a burst of serial traffic and still zoom into individual edges. Segmented acquisition stores only the triggered events, which makes better use of memory when activity is sparse, and you can play the segments back to find the one that went wrong.

Typical Applications

  • High-speed digital systems
  • Analogue and mixed-signal systems
  • RF circuits operating well within the 500 MHz bandwidth
  • Power electronics and energy systems
