Color 2 Click Board
Color 2 Click Board
The Color 2 Click Board™ is a compact add-on board that allows the user to introduce colour sensing functionality to the design. It features an ISL29125 RGB colour light sensor that aids the user to detect red, green and blue in a variety of lighting conditions. It outputs data from 5.7m lux-10,000 lux, providing an accurate spectral response by converting colours into 12 or 16-bit data. The user can select the range (narrower vs. wider bandwidth) and output resolution (12 vs. 16 bit).
Featuring an integrated ADC, the Color 2 Click Board™ rejects 50Hz and 60Hz flicker from artificial light sources. Along with that, the ISL29125 chip has an IR blocking filter, which means it can reliably operate under dark glass covers. The Color 2 Click Board™ communicates with the target microcontroller through the MikroBUS I2C interface (SCL and SDA pins). A programmable interrupt pin provides additional functionality. It works using a 3.3V power supply only.
The Color 2 Click Board™ is an ideal choice for an ambient light colour detector, dynamic display colour balancing, OLED display ageing compensation, printer colour enhancement and much more.
IC/Module: ISL29125 Digital RGB colour Light Sensor
ISL29125 is a low-power, high sensitivity RED, GREEN and BLUE colour light sensor that operates on an I2C interface. Its photodiode array offers an accurate RBG spectral response and excellent light source to light source variation. The ISL29125 is designed to reject IR in light sources that allows the device to operate in environments from sunlight to dark rooms.
Photodiodes and ADC
The Color 2 Click Board™ incorporates three photodiode arrays that convert light into current. After light is converted to current during the light to signal process, the current output is converted to a digital count by an on-chip Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). The ADC converter resolution is selectable from 12 or 16 bits. The ADC conversion time is inversely proportional to the ADC resolution.
