Overview
MikroElektronika has introduced its third Click Board™ with a WiFi module, named the WiFi 2 Click Board™. It is allegedly to be the most affordable WiFi Click Board™ yet. Designed to easily adding WiFi functionality to your device, this Click Board™ features HLK-M30 WiFi module with built-in WEP64/WEP128/TKIP/AES, WEP/WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK authentication. It also has a built-in TCP/IP protocol stack. Along with that, it also supports a few additional network protocols, including TCP/UCP and DHCP/DNS.
Ideal for IoT applications, the WiFi2 Click Board™ is easily configurable and can be set up with either a static or dynamic IP address, which makes it suitable for applications, like home automation, telemetry, remote control, industrial systems, etc. It communicates with the target board microcontroller through MikroBUS UART (TX, RX), RST, and AN lines.
The WiFi2 Click Board™ is designed to use a 3.3V power supply. A red LED indicates WiFi activity. The board is equipped with a PCB trace antenna that is designed for the 2400.
The WiFi2 Click Board™ features the HLK-M30 WiFi module with a built-in TCP/IP protocol stack. The click is designed to run on a 3.3V power supply; it communicates with the target MCU over an UART interface and the following mikroBUS™ pins: AN, RST.
TCP/IP Client or Server
WiFi2 click can be set up both as a TCP/IP client or server. You can configure it with either a static or dynamic IP address. Use the mikroBUS™ AN line (DEF on this click) to reset WiFi2 to default factory settings if needed.
Security and network protocols
The WiFi2 Click Board™ supports standard security authentication systems (WEP64/WEP128/ TKIP/ AES, WEP/WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK); as well as multiple network protocols (TCP/UDP/ DHCP/DNS). All these features make WiFi2 click ideal for home automation applications, remote controls, telemetry etc.
