Rotary G Click Board
Rotary G Click Board
Overview
The Rotary G Click Board™ from MikroE features a 15-pulse incremental rotary encoder with detents, which is surrounded by a ring of 16 green LEDs. If the user wants to implement a precision input knob into the design, such a rotary Click Board™ will be a perfect solution. Every single rotation is divided into 15 discrete steps. The encoder output has A and B signals (out of phase to each other). The knob also works as a push-button to send an interrupt to the target board MCU. The 16 LED ring is controlled via SPI communication interface.
The Rotary G Click Board™ can be used with either a 3.3V or 5V power supply. Such a Click Board™ would be useful in controlling audio/video equipment and other similar electrical devices.

IC/module: 15-Pulse Incremental Rotary Encoder
The Rotary G Click Board™ features a rotary encoder that can be spun round continuously to make a rotation into 15 discrete incremental steps. Featuring 30 detents, this incremental rotary encoder outputs A and B signals that are out of phase to each other.
Ring of 16 Green LEDs
The rotary encoder is encircled by a ring featuring 16 LEDs in eye-catchy green colour. The LED ring provides visual feedback to the user and controlled through SPI lines.
Communication to MCU through SPI Interface
The Rotary G Click Board™ communicates with the target board microcontroller via mikroBUS SPI lines (CS, SCK, MISO, MOSI), and three additional lines to deliver the Encoder info: ENCB OUT, ENCA OUT and SW (instead of the typical AN, RST and INT pins, respectively).
Additional LED Colours Available
With the green LED version, the Rotary G Click Board™, MikroElektronika has launched another Click Board™ in the colour LED Click Board™ range. The other available Click Board™s include two colours: red (Rotary R) and blue (Rotary B).
