RS485 Board
RS485 Board
Overview
Designed for RS-485 communication, the RS-485 Interface Board is a perfect option for use in electrically noisy environments on long distances (up to 1200 metres). The board features an integrated ADM485 differential line transceiver that can be used for high-speed bi-directional communications in a multipoint design. Compliant with EIA standards RS-485 and RS-422, this differential transceiver provides balanced data transmission lines. The ADM485 module aboard the RS485 additional board has a differential line driver and a differential line receiver. It is designed to operate using a 5V power supply only. Use of voltage translators is advised when using the board with 3.3V development systems.
The RS-485 Interface Board is an ideal choice for low power RS485 systems, DTE/DCE interfaces, packet switching, Local Area Networks (LANs), data concentration, data multiplexers, Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), and many more.
IC/Module: ADM485 Low-Power Differential Line Transceiver
The ADM485 is a differential line transceiver that provides high performance and low-power consumption. Suitable for high speed bidirectional data communication on multipoint bus transmission lines, it assures of balanced data transmission. Both the driver and receiver, included in the module, can be enabled independently.
BiCMOS Technology
Integrating two separate semiconductor technologies, BiCMOS combines bipolar and CMOS technology. It enables the user to combine low-power CMOS circuits with high-speed circuits by means of bipolar transistors. While all inputs and outputs are protected against electrostatic discharge, the drivers are made to have high current carrying capacity.
SMD Jumpers
RS485 Board features a set of jumpers that allows user to determine which node in RS485 network will be assigned to RS485 accessory board. Place jumpers J1, J2, J3 to set the accessory board to first node in RS485 network. Remove all jumpers, if it is required to keep the accessory board somewhere in between first and last node. Place jumper J1 to keep set the board to last node.
