IC/Module: ML8511 UV sensor IC
The ML8511 UV sensor is an ultraviolet light sensor that outputs an analog signal in relation to the amount of UV light it detects. Whether using the sensor indoor or outdoor, it measures ultraviolet light intensity and protects the user against excessive UV levels.
Sensitive to UV-A and UV-B rays
The sensor aboard UV Click Board™ is designed to detect 280-390nm light most effectively. This is categorized as part of the UV-A spectrum (365-315 nm) and most of the UV-B spectrum (315-280 nm). The UV-A (tanning rays) makes up to 95% of ultraviolet light were exposed to, while UV-B (burning rays) is the one causing sunburns. Be careful when experimenting with it.
On-Board ADC Converts the Signal
The MCP3201 ADC embedded in UV Click Board™ converts the signal and outputs an analog signal in relation to the amount of UV light detected. However, it is possible to bypass the on-board ADC and use the ADC on the target microcontroller instead,
