PEEDI (Powerful Embedded Ethernet Debug Interface) is Ronetix's JTAG/BDM/SWD emulator and flash programmer. It sits on your network, serves GDB to any PC that can reach it, and can also run flash programming scripts on its own from an SD card, so the same unit covers debugging on the bench and programming on the production line. Ronetix, an Austrian company based in Vienna, also makes the CPU modules and evaluation boards in this catalogue.
PEEDI connects to the target's debug port and to your Ethernet network, so any PC on that network can debug through it. The host runs GNU GDB (or an IDE such as Eclipse that uses GDB) and talks to PEEDI with the GDB remote protocol over TCP/IP. PEEDI translates those requests into JTAG, SWD or BDM signals, with a debug clock from 5 kHz to 33 MHz and automatic target voltage sensing from 1.2 V to 5 V. A telnet command line gives access to PEEDI's own commands, including flash programming.
PEEDI can program a target's flash with no PC attached, using a configuration file and an image stored on a FAT-formatted MMC or SD card. The configuration file defines up to 15 scripts of PEEDI commands (for example erase, program and verify), and a script can start from the front-panel button or automatically as soon as a powered target is connected (the AUTORUN setting). The front-panel LED shows progress and error codes, and a speaker gives a beep on a fault.
For set-up, files can be copied to the card with a card reader or transferred through PEEDI's telnet interface from a TFTP, FTP or HTTP server. Once the target configuration file is set to run from the card, the Ethernet cable can be removed. The flash multi command works on up to four targets at once, and the multicore programming licence (SW-MULTIPROG) enables programming of up to four boards in parallel.

The AT91SAM9G45, AT91SAM9263 and AT91SAM9261 boards are also listed without PEEDI: AT91SAM9G45, AT91SAM9263 and AT91SAM9261. The AT91SAM9G45 kit combines a PM9G45 CPU module with a BB9G45 base board and comes with Eclipse, a GNU toolchain and U-Boot.
PEEDI reaches each processor family through a target cable that matches the debug header on your board. We stock:
Yes. PEEDI runs scripts from a configuration file on an SD or MMC card, starting from the front-panel button or automatically when a target is connected. The LED shows progress and error codes. See the PEEDI Programmer.
Connect PEEDI to your network and the target, then point GDB (or Eclipse using GDB) at PEEDI's address. PEEDI uses the GDB remote protocol. The PEEDI Debugger includes this function.
Match the cable to the debug header on your board, for example the 20-pin Cortex, 20-pin ARM or 16-pin COP cable. If you are unsure, ask our engineers.
Yes. The SW-MULTIPROG licence enables parallel flash programming of up to four boards from one PEEDI.
PEEDI senses the target voltage automatically from 1.2 V to 5 V, and its debug clock runs from 5 kHz to 33 MHz.
It is an additional flash programming licence for PEEDI covering Intel ARM7/9 and XScale. The one year software support option gives updates and technical assistance for that licence for a year.
