Key Features
Overview
The TC2070-IDC-SOFT is the soft-squeeze version of the TC2070-IDC: a legged 14-pin Plug-of-Nails programming cable fitted with a 14-pin (2x7) 0.1-inch IDC connector, with about 200 mm (8 inches) of ribbon between the connectors.
Soft-squeeze cables are made for frequent production use: the side squeeze-tabs are easier on operators' fingers, and they can also help in very low humidity or low temperatures, where squeeze-tabs can be stiffer. An accidental tug can disconnect them, so they are not recommended for debugging and development, and they are not recommended for humid environments.
Many debuggers that use 14-pin connectors, such as those for MSP430, TI and ADI DSPs and Renesas MCUs, can also be served by Tag-Connect adapters that reduce the board footprint to 6 or 10 pins. See our Tag-Connect programmer adapters.

Questions and Answers
-
What Is the Difference From the TC2070-IDC?
The soft-squeeze version has softer side squeeze-tabs for frequent production use. The rest of the cable is based on the TC2070-IDC; see the TC2070-IDC datasheet below for the footprint.
-
Can I Use It for Debugging?
It is not recommended, because an accidental tug can disconnect it. Use the standard TC2070-IDC for debugging and development.
-
How Long Is the Cable?
About 200 mm (8 inches) of ribbon between the connectors.
-
Is There a Smaller Footprint Option?
For many 14-pin debuggers, Tag-Connect adapters reduce the board footprint to 6 or 10 pins. There is also a no-legs TC2070-IDC-NL.
