Overview
The Aaronia HyperLOG 4000 series delivers professional-grade EMC testing capabilities with extended low-frequency coverage down to 400MHz. These gold-coated log periodic antennas eliminate the need for multiple test antennas by providing continuous coverage across their specified ranges, reducing measurement time and improving repeatability.
Available in three models covering 400MHz-2.5GHz (4025), 400MHz-4GHz (4040), and 400MHz-6GHz (4060), each antenna includes comprehensive calibration data with up to 561 calibration points at 10MHz intervals. The robust construction features a protective radome and integrated 1/4" tripod mounting for both laboratory and field applications.
Manufactured in Germany to exacting standards, each HyperLOG 4000 antenna undergoes rigorous testing and ships with a complete accessory package including aluminium carrying case, detachable handle, and precision SMA toolset. Compatible with spectrum analysers and EMC test equipment for comprehensive measurement solutions.

Questions and Answers
-
How Do These Compare to Biconical Antennas for EMC Testing?
Log periodic antennas such as the HyperLOG 4000 series are directional, so they help pinpoint the source of interference, where Aaronia's BicoLOG biconical antennas are close to isotropic. The directivity gain also gives a better signal-to-noise ratio towards the source.
-
What EMC Standards Do These Antennas Comply With?
Aaronia does not state compliance with specific EMC standards for the HyperLOG 4000 series. The antennas are sold as EMC measurement antennas for pre-compliance work and come with calibration data.
-
Is the SMA Connector Compatible with My Spectrum Analyser or EMC Receiver?
Yes. The antenna has a standard SMA female connector and works with most spectrum analysers and EMC receivers. An optional SMA-to-N adapter is available for instruments with N-type inputs.
-
What Is the Difference Between the HyperLOG 4000 and 7000 Series?
The 4000 series goes down to 400MHz, compared with 700MHz for most 7000 series models (680MHz for the 7040).
It is considerably larger and heavier to cover the lower frequencies: about 590 x 360 mm and 1 to 1.2 kg, against 340 x 200 mm and about 250 to 270 g. Gain, VSWR and power handling are the same; antenna factors and the number of calibration points differ.
-
How Should I Position the Antenna for Optimal EMC Measurements?
For pre-compliance work, place the antenna 1 to 3 metres from the device under test (DUT). Measure in both horizontal and vertical polarisation and rotate the DUT to find the maximum emission. Full compliance test sites also scan the antenna height, so follow the setup your target standard specifies.
-
What Frequency Ranges Do the HyperLOG 4000 Series Models Cover?
There are three models:
- HyperLOG 4025: 400MHz-2.5GHz
- HyperLOG 4040: 400MHz-4GHz
- HyperLOG 4060: 400MHz-6GHz
All are suited to EMC pre-compliance measurements.
-
How Does the Calibration Data Improve Measurement Accuracy?
Each antenna comes with typical calibration data at 10MHz intervals: 211 points for the 4025, 361 for the 4040 and 561 for the 4060. Applying these antenna factors converts the analyser reading into field strength.
-
Why Are the Antenna Elements Gold-Coated?
Aaronia gold-coats the elements for stable performance. Gold resists corrosion, so the antenna's RF characteristics stay consistent over time, in the lab and in the field.
-
Can These Antennas Be Used for Both Emissions and Immunity Testing?
They are designed for emissions measurements. Each model is rated for 100W CW input at 400 MHz, but Aaronia does not specify the HyperLOG 4000 series for immunity testing. Contact us if you need an antenna for immunity work.
-
What Accessories Are Included with Each Antenna?
Each antenna comes with:
- aluminium carrying case
- detachable pistol grip handle that doubles as a miniature tripod
- calibration data
- Aaronia SMA toolset with over-torque protection
