Product Description
Introduce wireless functionality via infrared waves to your device with the IrDA-To-PC Board. The IrDA-To-PC board is a compact add-on board that features a fully-static infrared encoder/decoder MCP2120 placed between a TFDU4101 infrared optical transceiver module and a UART module. This MCP2120 chip converts data received from the transceiver module and send it to the microcontroller for further processing. The board also includes TFDU4101 diode and other electronics required for connecting your PC using IrDA communication easily. The IrDA to PC board is designed to communicate with a microcontroller through a serial communication UART. The board works well with IrDA 2 board and other devices supporting the same protocol. IrDA-To-PC board connects to a PC via a DB9 RS-232 serial port. It operates using an external 8-16 AC/DC power supply.
IC/Module: MCP2120 Infrared Encoder/Decoder
The MCP2120 is a low-cost, high-speed infrared encoder/decoder that supports IrDA Physical Layer specification. Featuring a fully static design, it sits between a UART module and an optical transceiver. The baud rate is user selectable to standard IrDA baud rates between 9600 baud to 115.2 kbaud.
IC/module: TFDU4101 Infrared Optical Transceiver
Compliant to the latest IrDA physical layer standard, the TFDU4101 transceiver module provides fast infrared data communication. It has a photo pin diode, an infrared emitter, and a low-power control IC to provide a total front-end solution.
RS232 Connector
The IrDA-To-PC board is connected with the PC using the RS232 connector. It can also be connected to other devices provided with this connector and UART module.
