monolithic, current mode, buck-boost DC/DC converter that can operate over a wide input voltage range of 1.92V to 15V and provide up to 200mA to the load from Analog Devices. The LTC3129-1 is characterized by its very low noise and low ripple level at the output, as well as very high regulating efficiency and low quiescent current. Eight fixed, user-programmable output voltages can be selected using the three digital programming pins routed to the INT, AN, and CS pin of the mikroBUS™ socket. A proprietary switch control algorithm allows the Buck-Boost converter to maintain output voltage regulation with input voltages that are above, below, or equal to the output voltage. Transitions between the step-up or step-down operating modes are seamless and free of transients and sub-harmonic switching, making this product ideal for noise-sensitive applications.

The Buck-Boost Click Board™ possesses two different modes of operation - PWM and Burst Mode, depending on the nature of the application. The PWM mode can be selected by setting the PWM pin of the mikroBUS™ socket to a logic high level and is suitable for working with higher loads connected to the converter output and when the extremely low output noise is required. When the PWM mode is selected, LTC3129-1 has a fixed nominal switching frequency of 1.2MHz using an internally compensated average current mode control loop. In this mode, the ripple and the noise level of the output voltage are minimal.

For high-efficiency operation at light loads, automatic Burst Mode operation can be selected, reducing the quiescent current down to 1.3µA. Burst mode can be chosen if the PWM pin is set to a logic low level. If the connected load is light enough, the converter will remain working in Burst mode, running only when necessary to maintain voltage regulation. Otherwise, the PWM mode will be automatically engaged, providing enough current for the connected load.

The Buck-Boost Click Board™ completely powers itself from the VIN external power supply terminal. Once the power is applied to the VIN terminal, the circuit also has to be enabled by setting the RUN pin routed to the RST pin of the mikroBUS™ socket to a high logic level. This will power up the converter, which will be indicated by the PWR LED indicator. It also includes additional features such as a power-good output with a Power Good LED indicator labelled as PGOOD that pulls to the ground when FB drops too far below its regulated voltage. This pin also can sink up to the absolute maximum rating of 15mA when set low.

VOLTAGE SELECTION PINS SETTINGS

A boost converter outputs voltage that is greater than the input voltage (steps up the input voltage).

By combining these two topologies, the MCP16331 Click Board™ is able to output a regulated DC voltage, which can be set in the code, for input voltage both greater and less than the output voltage.

A typical application for a buck-boost regulator is a battery-powered system, where the input voltage can vary widely, starting at full charge and gradually decreasing as the battery charge is used up. At full charge, where the battery voltage may be higher than needed by the circuit, a buck regulator would be ideal to keep the supply voltage steady.

However as the charge diminishes the input voltage falls below the level required by the circuit, and either the battery must be discarded or re-charged; at this point, the ideal alternative would be the boost regulator.

By combining these two topologies, it is possible to have a regulator circuit that can cope with a wide range of input voltages both higher or lower than that required by the circuit.

How Does The MCP16331 Click Board™ Work?

The MCP16331 Click Board™ central module is the Microchip's MCP16331, a non-synchronous, step-down or buck converter, capable of stepping input voltages ranging from 4.4V to 50V, and output voltage ranging from to 2.0V to 24V. More details about the MCP16331 are available in the official datasheet. However, MCP16331 click is designed to handle an input voltage ranging from 4.5V to 18V and output a voltage ranging from 2,25V to 12V at 500 mA maximum current, since it works in a buck-boost topology.

To set the output voltage of the MCP16331 Click Board™, the MCP4921 - a low power 12-Bit dual voltage output DAC is used in the feedback loop. The output of this DAC is used to drive the FB pin of the MCP16331, so in order to set up the output voltage, it is enough to set the DAC output to a specific value. This will cause the FB pin to drive the switching section of the MCP16331 which will output a desired voltage level, as a result. The AN pin of the mikroBUS™ can be used to verify the output voltage and correct the value given to the DAC, if needed. The MCP4291 DAC can be configured by the host MCU via the SPI bus pins, routed to the mikroBUS™.

The AN pin of the mikroBUS™ is routed to a middle point of a voltage divider on the output. This voltage divider is used to scale down the output voltage so it can be successfully converted by the ADC of the host MCU. Besides the bit depth of the ADC, this should also be taken into account when calculating the value for the output voltage.

The MCP16331 Click Board™ has two screw terminals used to connect the input voltage and the load, as well as the SMD jumper used to select the voltage for the DAC IC. 2 Click Board™

The Buck-Boost 2 Click Board™ is an advanced DC-DC step-down/step-up regulator (buck/boost), which is able to provide regulated 5V on its output, regardless of the input voltage. The input voltage can range from 2.7V up to 40V. The click board™ provides an ultra-low noise and ripple free regulated output, with transparent switching from a buck to boost mode - depending on the input voltage, which produces no discontinuities or switching artifacts, such as transients or subharmonic switching. Selectable switching mode allows optimal power consumption and high power efficiency, for both lighter and heavier loads.

Featuring a range of advanced regulation, protection and switching functions , the Buck-Boost 2 Click Board™ can be used to provide a clean and regulated 5V output from a range of different unregulated sources, such as lead-acid battery cells, firewire connectors, or unregulated wall adapters, with enough current to drive most applications that require stabilized 5V power supply.

How Does The Buck-Boost 2 Click Board™ Work?

The Buck-Boost 2 Click Board™ is equipped with the LTC3115-2, a 40V, 2A synchronous buck-boost DC/DC converter from Analog Devices. This IC relies on the advanced four MOSFET switch topology, so it can sustain the regulation in both cases when the input voltage is lower and higher than the output voltage, set by the feedback network to 5V. A proprietary switching algorithm ensures a transparent, continuous transition between operating modes. The LTC3115-2 features both forward and reverse current limiting section. The maximum current available on the output depends on the mode of operation: If the output voltage is greater than the input voltage, the device works in boost mode and the maximum current is about 0.6A. If the output voltage is less than the input voltage, the device works in buck mode and the maximum current available is about 1.4A. Also, the maximum output current is affected by the switching mode, selectable by the MODE pin, routed to the PWM pin of the mikroBUS™. There are two modes available: fixed frequency PWM mode and burst mode.

While working in PWM mode, the LTC3115-2 IC uses a fixed frequency, determined by the onboard resistor - in the case of the Buck-Boost 2 Click Board™, it is fixed at 750kHz. The PWM mode is used when a heavier load is connected to the output terminal. This mode is set when the PWM/SYNC pin is pulled to a HIGH logic level. This mode allows the maximum current on the output and results with the lowest amount of switching noise and output voltage ripple. This mode is used to provide the power for the connected devices, while they work in the active mode.

The burst mode is used for maintained efficiency when light output loads are used. The device will work in burst mode when the PWM/SYNC pin is pulled to a LOW logic level. While in burst mode, the variable frequency switching algorithm is used, resulting in a very low quiescent current, which allows lowered power consumption - e.g. when the external voltage input is taken from a battery. The error amplifier is powered down in this mode and the output current should not be greater than allowed, else the output voltage will lose regulation. This mode is perfectly suited to power up various devices while they work in standby mode.

When using the synchronization function of the PWM/SYNC pin, the device works in the fixed frequency PWM mode, but its frequency is regulated by the external clock source, by the means of the internal PLL section. This can be useful when special power supply noise requirements must be met. Since the internal PLL is able only to increase the internal clock frequency, the external clock signal should be above the frequency set by the onboard resistor (750kHz) taking the sufficient error margin into account.

The RUN pin of the LTC3115-2 IC is routed to the mikroBUS™ RST pin and it is used to activate the internal logic and switching circuitry. Setting this pin to a HIGH logic level (above 1.21V) will enable both the logic and the switching sections of the LTC3115-2 IC.

It is possible to measure and monitor the output voltage of the Buck-Boost 2 Click Board™, by utilizing the voltage divider, with its middle point routed to the AN pin of the mikroBUS™. By applying the calculation from the formula below, it is possible to determine the exact value of the output voltage. It can be used to monitor the output so that the appropriate action can be taken in the case when the voltage drops or loses regulation. The output voltage can be derived from the following formula:

V <sub>AN </sub>= (R10/(R10+R11)) x V <sub>OUT</sub>

Where R10 = 10KΩ and R11 = 6.8KΩ. For the output voltage of 5V, the measured voltage on the output voltage divider should be 2.976V. Since the device works with the fixed output voltage, this value should not deviate from the calculated, else something might be disrupting the proper operation of the device.

The Buck-Boost 2 Click Board™ allows operation with both 3.3V and 5V MCUs. There is an onboard SMD jumper labeled as VCC SEL, which is used to set the logic voltage (e.g. for the RUN pin) as well as the input voltage for the LTC3115-2 IC. Another SMD jumper, labeled as VIN SEL is used to select the voltage chosen by the VCC SEL and the external source, connected to the input terminal. The output load should be connected to the output terminal. Two screw terminals allow easy and secure connection of the input and output lines.

SPECIFICATIONS

INV Click Board™

The MCP16331 Click Board™ works as a buck-boost voltage regulator, a switching regulator topology that combines principles of the buck conversion (step-down) and the boost conversion (step-up). A buck converter outputs voltage that is smaller than the input voltage (steps down the input voltage). A boost converter outputs voltage that is greater than the input voltage (steps up the input voltage). By combining these two topologies, MCP16331 INV click is able to output a regulated DC voltage, which can be set in the code, for input voltage both greater and less than the output voltage.

A major difference between the MCP16331 INV click and another click with the same name - MCP16331 Click Board™, is that this click works in an inverting configuration, providing an output voltage which is negative in respect to the GND level. Negative voltage is often used in symmetrical power supply configurations - for powering up operational amplifiers and similar devices that require such type of power supply. This feature, as well as the excellent power switching efficiency, overtemperature protection, and a clean regulated voltage output makes this device an ideal solution for powering up any application that demands a negative voltage power supply.

How Does The MCP16331 Click Board™ Work?

The switching regulator used on MCP16331 Click Board™ is the MCP16331, a step-down (buck) switching regulator from Microchip. However, with the help of a few external components, MCP16331 INV click is able to regulate voltage levels both lower and higher than the input voltage, working as an inverted boost-buck voltage regulator.

The MCP16331 Click Board™ is designed so that it can output a negative voltage, with respect to the GND. A negative voltage is often used in the analog electronics domain, to power up devices which require both positive and negative voltages to be applied. A good example would be an operational amplifier (opamp) which amplifies an AC signal. The signal goes in both positive and negative direction with respect to the GND. Processing this kind of signal with using just a single voltage source is difficult and requires workarounds such as using capacitors, charge pumps and virtual GNDs. Using a symmetrical power supply reduces the number of required components and simplifies the design.

To be able to deliver a negative voltage, several additional components, such as the ADM8828 voltage inverter IC and the LM318, a dual operational amplifier have to be added. The ADM8828 voltage inverter IC is used to provide a negative component of the symmetrical power supply, used for the LM318 dual opamp. One integrated opamp from the LM318 IC is used to invert the output from the DAC. The other opamp from the LM318 IC is used to invert the output from the voltage divider, located on the output rail of the MCP16331 so that it can be used by the MCU, which uses a single voltage power source.

To set the output voltage of the MCP16331 Click Board™, the MCP4921 - a low power 12-Bit dual voltage output DAC is used in the feedback loop. As already mentioned, it is necessary to invert this signal as the MCP4921 is supplied from a single voltage power supply, and it is not capable of bringing the signal lower than the GND. Since MCP16331 works in the negative voltage domain, the feedback voltage applied to the FB pin of this IC also needs to be negative with respect to the GND. One of the LM318's integrated opamps, configured as a unity gain inverter, is used to invert the DAC output voltage.

Since the FB pin of the MCP16331 IC is driven by the DAC, it is enough to set the DAC to a specific value, in order to control the output voltage of the click board™. Communication with the MCP4921 DAC is done via the SPI interface. SPI bus pins of the MCP4921 are routed to the mikroBUS™ for an easy and secure connection with the host MCU.

The AN pin of the mikroBUS™ is routed to a middle point of a voltage divider at the output. This voltage divider is used to scale down the output voltage so it can be successfully converted by the ADC of the host MCU. The voltage on the divider also has to be inverted, since it is coming out from the negative voltage domain. This is achieved by the second operational amplifier of the LM318 IC, which also works as a unity gain inverter. This value can be used to monitor the output voltage and correct it, if needed.

The EN pin of the MCP16331 switching regulator is routed to the mikroBUS™ RST pin. By pulling this pin to a HIGH logic level, the internal sections of the regulator are enabled. The EN pin is internally pulled to a HIGH logic level, so the device will be enabled, even if this pin is left floating. Therefore, a correct startup sequence must be used, in order to avoid undesirable effects (in the NOTE, below).

Although it is designed to work as the negative power supply, the MCP16331 Click Board™ can also be used to drive a regular load, connecting its positive input terminal to the GND of the click board™, and using the negative output of the MCP16331INV click as the GND.

The MCP16331 Click Board™ comes with two screw terminals, used to connect the input and the output voltage rails. Click Board™

The BATT-MAN Click Board™ is a very versatile battery operated power manager. When powered via mikroBUS™, it will charge the connected Li-Ion/Li-Po 3.7V battery, while providing the output voltage on all its outputs at the same time. The interesting feature of this device is that it can provide additional current to the connected load if the current provided from the mikroBUS™ socket is not enough. This is possible by utilizing the connected battery and by employing intelligent power routing algorithms of the BATT-MAN Click Board™.

This click has several output voltage options - it can charge the connected battery from the mikroBUS™ power rails and it is very efficient when it comes to using 5V rail of mikroBUS™. It also has an EN Vout switch (SW1) that is used to enable the BATT-MAN Click Board™ power outputs, even when the click is not connected to mikroBUS™. This allows for the click board™ to be used as the standalone battery-powered voltage regulator. The BATT-MAN Click Board™ can be used as a very efficient 5V battery charger and as a power supply for various portable devices and applications.

How Does The BATT-MAN Click Board™ Work?

The core component of the BATT-MAN Click Board™ is the LTC3586, a high-efficiency power manager with boost, buck-boost, and dual buck converters from Analog Devices. It includes a high-efficiency current limited switching PowerPath™ manager with automatic load prioritization which employs the Bat-Track™ adaptive output control technology, battery charger and four synchronous switching regulators (two bucks, one buck-boost, and one boost). The LTC3586 has a working mode that sets the PowerPath™ manager never to exceed 1A of the input current.

As soon as the device is plugged into the mikroBUS™ socket, it will detect a presence of the voltage from the 5V rail, on the input pins (VBUS). PowerPath™ switching regulator will deliver power from VBUS to VOUT via the SW pin. The VOUT is used to drive external loads through the switching regulators, along with the integrated battery charger. If this combined current draw does not exceed the internally set current threshold, the voltage at the VOUT pin (VSYS on the included schematic) will be held at about 0.3V above the battery voltage level - thanks to the Bat-Track™ technology, keeping the losses across the battery charger to a minimum. If the combined current draw is large enough, the current available for the charger will be reduced, in order to provide more current for the connected load. The PowerPath™ manager will always ensure that the connected load has the priority over the battery charging. Only the excess power will be used for the charger section of the device.

The provided internal ideal diode and the ideal diode controller allow the battery power to be used for the output. Whenever the VSYS drops under the VBAT level or the load requires more current than it is currently available from the input switching regulator, the additional power will be pulled from the battery via the ideal diode. This allows the continuous power output for the connected external load, as long as the connected battery is charged. The internal ideal diode is supplemented by the external MOSFET transistor, which is controlled by a dedicated GATE pin of the LTC3586 IC.

There are several outputs available on the BATT-MAN Click Board™. There is one LDO output voltage, regulated to 3.3V. This is a very low current output and it can provide about 30mA of current. This output is always on and it is intended only for very light loads. The second regulated 3.3V output is a high current output and it can provide up to 1A of current. Heavier loads can be connected to this output. Finally, a 5V regulated output can provide up to 800mA of current and it is also meant for heavier loads. All these voltage connectors are accessed through the onboard screw terminals, for an easy connection.

The battery charging section has all the features required for optimized charging and prolonged battery life, including a constant current/voltage battery charger with automatic recharge, automatic termination by safety timer, low voltage trickle charging and bad cell detection. The battery float voltage is set to 4.2V, which is perfectly suited for the LiPo batteries available at MikroElektronika online shop. The battery charging section also features the #CHRG pin, that is used to indicate the charging state of the battery. It can signalize several states of the battery: charging, not charging and unresponsive/damaged battery. This is an open drain output and it is pulled HIGH to the 3.3V provided from the low current LDO regulator. When the battery is charging, this pin is pulled to a LOW state and the red LED indicator on BATT-MAN click is lit. When the battery is not charging, the LED is powered off. If the connected battery is damaged, a 6.1Hz modulation signal is applied to the charge indicator LED. The #CHRG pin is routed to the mikroBUS™ AN pin.

The #FAULT pin is used to indicate an error on the output voltages. If the feedback voltage of the integrated buck/boost converters fails to reach the 8% of the internal reference voltage within 14ms, this pin will be pulled low to indicate the error, and switching regulators will be shut off. The #FAULT pin is bidirectional, which means that pulling this pin LOW externally will also disable the switching regulators. This pin is routed to the mikroBUS™ INT pin and it is pulled HIGH to the 3.3V provided from the low current LDO regulator.

The device can be turned on by the onboard EN Vout switch (SW1), even in the absence of the power from the mikroBUS™ 5V rail. In this case, the connected external LiPo battery is mandatory. EN pins of the switching regulators are routed to the mikroBUS™ RST pin, allowing the MCU to shut down the device. If the switch is in the closed position, it will pull the RST line of the mikroBUS™ to a HIGH level via the 3K3 resistor. If the MCU sets the RST pin to a LOW logic level, the switch position will be superseded by the RST pin, and the logic state of the RST pin will become LOW.

Besides the onboard screw terminals used to connect the external load, the BATT-MAN Click Board™ also has a standard 2.54mm pitch battery connector, used to connect the LiPo 3 Click Board™

This device is capable of providing reasonably high current on the output. The frequency of the internal PWM oscillator is 500kHz, which ensures an optimal efficiency-to-size ratio. The Buck-Boost 3 Click Board™ offers a very tight output voltage regulation, reliable overcurrent protection, it allows a wide voltage range on the input terminal and can operate in both PWM/PFM modes, allowing optimized efficiency for the connected load.

Featuring both buck and boost functionality on one device, while maintaining an accurate voltage at the output, even with heavier loads, this Click board™ can be used to provide continuous power in cases when the input voltage fluctuates a lot, in the range from 2.5V up to 35V.

How Does The Buck-Boost 3 Click Board™ Work?

The Buck-Boost 3 Click Board™ is based on the ISL85403, a 2.5A regulator with the integrated high-side MOSFET and a low-side driver, by Renesas, allowing it to be used in different topologies. Buck-Boost 3 click uses the single inductor buck-boost topology, allowing it to maintain the selected 3.3V or 5V on the output, regardless of the input voltage. The input voltage can vary between about 2.5V and 35V. This makes the Click board™ suitable to be used as the battery power regulator, for example, compensating for the voltage drop, while maintaining the constant voltage at the output, necessary for the embedded system.

The ISL85403 offers two modes of operation: PWM and PFM. These modes are switched automatically depending on the current through the MOSFET, ensuring an optimal efficiency for both light and heavier loads at the output. The PFM (Pulse Frequency Modulation) mode allows the ISL85403 to be more efficient when there is a light load connected at the output. In this case, the frequency of the PWM oscillator can be dramatically reduced since the stored inductor energy is depleted much slower by the connected load. Although more efficient for light loads, the PFM mode results in a slightly higher output voltage ripple. This makes the PFM mode well suited for situations when the connected device enters the hibernation or sleep mode. Buck-Boost 3 click has a resistor which sets the device to operate in PWM mode until the current through the MOSFET drops under 0.4A.

The maximum output current depends on many external factors, mostly on heat dissipation, but also on the duty cycle of the internal PWM oscillator, as well as the input voltage. Since the Buck-Boost 3 click uses a synchronous switching model with the external low-side MOSFET, the heat dissipation is somewhat lowered, but it still depends on the input voltage and the duty cycle. The ISL85403 datasheet offers formulas which can be used to calculate the specific duty cycle for a certain input and output voltages, as well as the current through the inductor. Once these values are known, the maximum current available for the load can be calculated, having in mind that the inductor current is limited to about 2.75A, by the resistor connected between the ILIM pin of the ISL85403 and GND.

The output voltage can be selected by positioning the SMD jumper labeled as VOUT SEL to either 3V3 or 5V position. This jumper is used to select one of two resistor values for the FB pin of the ISL85403 IC. Values of these resistors are calculated so that the Click board™ offers a selection between 3.3V and 5V. Most embedded applications use one of these two voltages, so these values are selected accordingly. The output voltage presence is indicated by a LED indicator, labeled as OUT on the Click board™. This indicator is not driven by the ISL85403; instead, this LED is supplied with power directly from the output terminal.

Following the idea of providing a regulated 3.3V or 5V on the output, the Click board™ is equipped with the Power Good LED indicator. When there is an undervoltage or overvoltage condition, this pin will be asserted to a LOW logic level, allowing the red LED indicator labeled as UVP to turn ON. The undervoltage condition indicates that the voltage at the FB pin has dropped below 90% of the reference value, while the overvoltage condition indicates that the voltage at the FB pin has risen above 110% of the reference value, which is 0.8V for the ISL85403 IC. The status of the LED indicator can also be read by the host MCU since the PGOOD pin of the ISL85403 IC is also routed to the INT pin of the mikroBUS™.

The Buck-Boost 3 Click Board™ also features the EN pin, which is used to enable the ISL85403 IC. When there is a HIGH logic level on this pin, the buck-boost IC will be enabled. This pin is pulled to a HIGH logic level by an onboard resistor in case this pin is left floating. This pin is routed to the CS pin of the mikroBUS™, allowing the host MCU to control the Buck-Boost 3 Click Board™.

Specifications

An additional option has been added for the users to activate or deactivate the Boost and LED part of the board by populating or removing two jumpers, R11 and R9.

The BATT-MAN 3 Click Board™ communicates with MCU using the standard I2C 2-Wire interface to read data and configure settings with a maximum frequency of 400kHz. Also, it uses several GPIO pins, one of which is an interrupt pin, the INT pin of the mikroBUS™ socket, used as a 'fault' indicator which immediately notifies the host when a fault occurs. The ADP5350 low dropout (LDO) regulators, available on top side terminals labeled from VOUT1 to VOUT3, are optimized to operate at low shutdown current and quiescent current to extend battery life. The device also acts as a load switch that can be fully turned OFF or ON. The I2C interface enables the programmability of all parameters, including status bit readback for operation monitoring and safety control.

The BATT-MAN 3 Click Board™ uses two LED indicators, labeled as PGOOD and BATT OK, used as power good and charging status indicator alongside the connector on the upper-left side of the board, reserved for a Li-ion/Li-ion polymer battery. PGOOD indicates a good input source, while BATT OK shows the real-time status of the battery voltage. Also, it features battery pack temperature sensing via an internal or external thermistor connected to the onboard header labeled as NTC. This sensing precludes charging when the battery pack temperature is outside the specified range. The selection of a thermistor can be made by positioning the SMD jumpers labeled as TMP SEL to an appropriate position marked as EXT and INT.

The BATT-MAN 3 Click Board™ can be operated only with a 5V logic voltage level. The board must perform appropriate logic voltage level conversion before using MCUs with different logic levels. However, the Click board™ comes equipped with a library containing functions and an example code that can be used, as a reference, for further development.

SPECIFICATIONS

Type

Board™ uses the MAX77654, a highly-integrated battery charging and power management solution for low-power applications from Analog Devices. It features a single-inductor, multiple-output (SIMO) buck-boost regulator efficiently that provides three independently programmable power rails available on onboard terminals labelled as VSB0, VSB1, and VSB2. Also, it has one 100mA LDO output, labelled as VLDO, with ripple rejection for audio and other noise-sensitive applications. This LDO output can also be configured as a load switch to manage power consumption by disconnecting external blocks when not required. The LDO output can be activated/deactivated by populating the JP2 onboard jumper.

The MAX77654 also has an integrated highly-configurable linear charger that supports a wide range of Li+ battery capacities with a wide range of charge current and charger termination voltage options, featuring battery temperature monitoring for additional safety (JEITA). The charger feature is OFF when the CHG supply is invalid (supply in the range from 4.1V up to 7.25V), disabled, or with the fresh battery. In addition to all the output terminals on this board, another one is marked with VSYS, which is the system power output terminal. In addition to providing power to the system resources and the control logic of the device, VSYS is also designed for external use.

The BATT-MAN 2 Click Board™ communicates with MCU using the standard I2C 2-Wire interface for configuring and checking the device's status. Since the sensor for operation requires a 1.8V logic voltage level to work correctly, a small regulating LDO is used, the ADP160 from Analog Devices, providing a 1.8V out of mikroBUS™ rails. That's why the PCA9306 voltage-level translator is also featured. The I2C interface bus lines are routed to the dual bidirectional voltage-level translator, allowing this Click board™ to work with both 3.3V and 5V MCUs properly.

An onboard switch labelled as ENABLE has the primary purpose of generating a wake-up signal for the PMIC that turns ON the regulators by setting the switch to an appropriate position marked as 1 or 0. In addition, this Click board™ also has some additional features, such as a Reset routed to the RST pin on the mikroBUS™ socket used to hold the processor in a Reset state when the device is powered down.

It also uses an interrupt pin, the INT pin of the mikroBUS™ socket, to signal an essential change in device status, while the three additional LED indicators, red, yellow, and blue LEDs labelled as LED2, LED3, and LED4, can be used for optional user-configurable visual indication. Besides, this device includes an analog multiplexer (AMX), routed to the AN pin on the mikroBUS™ socket, that switches several internal voltage and current signals to an external node for monitoring with an external ADC.

The BATT-MAN 2 Click Board™ can operate with both 3.3V and 5V logic voltage levels selected via the VCC SEL jumper. This way, it is allowed for both 3.3V and 5V capable MCUs to use the communication lines properly. However, the Click board™ comes equipped with a library containing easy-to-use functions and an example code that can be used, as a reference, for further development.

SPECIFICATIONS

Type
