Professional External Power Amplifier for Vector Network Analysis

The OMICRON Lab B-AMP 12 is a precision external power amplifier designed specifically for use with the Bode 100 vector network analyser. This professional-grade amplifier delivers a consistent 12 dB gain (×4 amplification) across the entire DC to 50 MHz frequency range, enabling high-power measurements up to 25 dBm output level.

High-Performance 50Ω System Design

Built around a true 50Ω input and output impedance design, the B-AMP 12 provides excellent return loss performance (>30 dB) ensuring minimal signal reflections and accurate measurements. The amplifier features dedicated impedance measurement ports (CH1 and CH2) that provide defined attenuation levels for direct impedance measurements at high signal levels.

Key Specifications:
Frequency Range DC – 50 MHz
Gain 12 dB ±0.25 dB
Maximum Output 25 dBm (11.3 VPP) into 50Ω
Input/Output Impedance 50Ω nominal
Supply Voltage 10-36 VDC

Wiring Quick-Start

Connect the B-AMP 12 between your Bode 100 output and device under test:

Important: Always ensure proper 50Ω termination on all ports before applying power. The B-AMP 12 has no output activity indicator - use caution when external amplifiers are connected.

Advanced Measurement Capabilities

The integrated CH1 and CH2 measurement ports provide calibrated signal paths for impedance analysis:

Input to CH1 attenuation 14.5 dB typ.
Input to CH2 attenuation 20.8 dB typ.
Output to CH2 voltage gain -33 dB (×0.022)
CH1/CH2 return loss >25 dB

These measurement ports enable direct impedance measurements with high AC signal levels, essential for characterising voltage-dependent components like chip capacitors and varactors.
