The Distance Meter Board features a small size, low-power ultrasonic transducer MB1100 with stable range readings, object detection to the front sensor face, and even more reliable distance readings. The board has automatic real-time background calibration, much higher acoustic output power, greatly improved real-time noise rejection, centimetre resolution, longer distance range measurement and analogue hardware gains. In most cases, these improvements result in virtually noise-free distance readings.
A real-time fully automatic calibration is performed in the background so that the sensor is calibrated to operate properly for each individual reading. Even if the sensor is powered up with an object pressing against the front sensor face, the presence of the object will be reported correctly. Also, it has increased acoustic power, auto-calibration, and better noise filtering allowing stable distance readings with centimetre resolution. In addition, the higher power, the longer-range measurement allowed.
