When it is necessary to probe signals in a cable loom, the acupuncture probe can be used. The probe is used by piercing the cables insulation with its needle-like tip until the conductor is reached. The minute hole created in the insulation will normally close up, offering continued protection of the conductor. This makes it suitable for automotive applications.
