It was announced at Rome Maker Fair to wide acclaim. It is basically an Arduino board based on the same 32-bit AT91SAM3X8E CPU with an ARM Cortex M3 architecture with the usual Arduino expansion capabilities (The Blue Side). However, the back of the board (The White Side) of the Flip n Click Board™ is fitted with four MikroBus sockets. This allows up to four Click Boards™ to be fitted and run simultaneously, significantly enhancing the Arduino's expansion capabilities. Over 200 Click Boards™ are now available from MikroElektronika, and stocked by The Debug Store, more than any other reseller!. - amazon_long_description:

Arduino's Close Cousin

The Flip and Click Board™ shares a lot of Arduino DNA. It behaves in the same way as an Arduino and will run the same software.

The Blue Side of the board closely resembles the standard Arduino Board making it compatible with a range of Arduino shields. All pins work with 3.3V logic, just like the Arduino Due.
.

Based on the Atmel AT91SAM3X8E MCU

The same microcontroller is used on the Flip and Click as the standard Arduino board. This means you can be confident that if you have developed code for the Arduino, it will also run on the Flip and Click Board™.

Start Using Click Board™s

Flip and Click mikroBUS .

Click Board™s are a great way of connecting your Flip and Click to the real world. In many cases you will not need to wire up a board to provide an interface as it will already be supported by a Click Board™. Click Board™s are inexpensive and fully supported by MikroElektronika Development Tools. Each board is also supplied with example code so you can get started using the board straight away. Many examples are available on MikroElektronika's GitHub channel with more being added all the time.

Flip-n-Click Board™ .

The back of the Flip-n-Click Board™ (The White Side) has four mikroBUSsockets along with four LEDs and a reset button. As some Click Board™s use 3.3V and others 5V, both power supplies are connected to each mikroBUS socket.

USB Ports

Flip n Click USB Ports .

The board is fitted with two micro-USB ports. One is used for programming and the other can be used to connect to other devices.

However, shields designed for 5V operation may require level shifting or may not be compatible due to the 3.3V operating voltage. - 1564398: How many Click boards™ can be connected simultaneously to the Flip&Click Board™ SAM3X?***SIMP***The board features four mikroBUS™ sockets, allowing up to four Click boards™ to be connected simultaneously. The sockets share certain communication buses (SPI, I²C) but are designed to prevent conflicts through proper pin allocation. - 1564399: What programming environments are supported by the Flip&Click Board™ SAM3X?***SIMP***The board supports Arduino IDE (using Arduino Due board selection), MikroElektronika's mikroC compilers, and Python programming through Zerynth Studio, providing flexibility for different development preferences and project requirements. - 1564401: Does the Flip&Click Board™ SAM3X require special drivers for USB connectivity?***SIMP***Most modern operating systems automatically recognise the board when connected via USB. For Arduino IDE usage, you may need to install Arduino SAM boards package through the Boards Manager for first-time setup. - 1564402: What is the maximum current consumption of the Flip&Click Board™ SAM3X?***SIMP***The board itself has low power consumption, but total current depends on connected Click boards™. Each mikroBUS™ socket can provide up to the limits specified in the mikroBUS™ standard (typically 300mA at 5V and 200mA at 3.3V per socket). - 1564403: Can the Flip&Click Board™ SAM3X operate in industrial temperature ranges?***SIMP***The standard version operates in commercial temperature ranges. The AT91SAM3X8E microcontroller specifications should be consulted for exact temperature limits, typically 0°C to 70°C for commercial applications. - summary:

The Flip&Click Board™ SAM3X represents a revolutionary approach to embedded development, featuring a unique two-sided design that bridges Arduino compatibility with the extensive Click board™ ecosystem. Powered by the same 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 AT91SAM3X8E microcontroller as the Arduino Due, operating at 84MHz, this innovative board delivers exceptional performance for demanding applications.

Dual-Personality Design

The blue side maintains full Arduino Due compatibility with standard UNO R3 pinouts, enabling seamless integration with existing Arduino shields that operate at 3.3V. When flipped, the white side reveals four standardised mikroBUS™ sockets, providing access to over 1,600 Click boards™ for unparalleled expansion possibilities.

Professional Development Features

With 512KB Flash memory, 96KB SRAM, and comprehensive I/O capabilities including 54 digital pins, 12 analogue inputs, and multiple communication protocols (SPI, I²C, UART), the board handles complex embedded projects with ease. The integrated USB OTG functionality and dual USB ports (programming and native) provide flexible connectivity options for modern applications.

Compatible with both Arduino IDE and Python development environments through Zerynth Studio, the Flip&Click Board™ SAM3X accelerates time-to-market for professional engineers whilst maintaining the accessibility that makes rapid prototyping efficient and cost-effective.
